The beginning

The history of our flavour began in 1943 in Vila Nova de Famalicão with the opening of the confectionery and tea room ‘A Vieira de Castro’ on one of the main and busiest streets in the city. Initially dedicated to the production of traditional pastries and confectionery, it was famous in the region for its delicious bolo rei and sponge cake. Growing fame and demand led to the dynamism and bold vision of its founder, António Vieira de Castro, quickly transforming his business from a confectionery shop into a factory, from a local to a national business. This led to the creation of Vieira de Castro & Filhos Lda., which became a national benchmark in the production of biscuits, almonds and sweets, with iconic creations such as Bolacha de Água e Sal (water and salt biscuits), the irresistible Amêndoas Cláudias (Claudia Almonds) and the Originais Rebuçados Flocos de Neve (Original Snowflake Sweets), which are still part of the collective imagination of the Portuguese people today and continue to preserve the original flavour and quality that distinguish them and make them absolutely unmistakable.

The brand today

An innovative brand with tradition. Now spread across the four corners of the world, we are part of families' daily lives, present in different moments of consumers' everyday lives. There is a Vieira product for every moment. In each product, we bring not only the best ingredients, texture and flavour, but also the experience, dedication and knowledge of many people, generations and teams, innovation, technology and sustainability. At Vieira, we seek to contribute to the development of all stakeholders, making a positive impact in a conscious and responsible manner, from the origin of the ingredients to the consumers of our brand.
